Scott Davies
Scott started cycling at age 11, after receiving a road bike one Christmas. He then joined his local cycling club, Towy Riders, that led to racing both cyclocross & closed circuit races, before progressing to the Welsh Junior Programme as a first year junior. He gained his first experience of stage racing & International competition during 2012, whilst in Belgium with the Welsh Junior team. Later that year, momentum built, as he claimed a 5th place in the Junior Tour of Wales, and went on to win the National Junior Time Trial Championships.
During 2013, he was accepted as a member of British Cycling’s famous Olympic Development Programme. This provided him with regular training camps and an International race calendar. 2013 twas a whirlwind season, as he went on to finish 7th in the Junior World Road Race Championships. His season’s highlight however was becoming the first Welshman to win the prestigious Junior Tour of Wales, as well as finishing 2nd overall at the Giro Internazionale Della Lunigiana.
In 2014 he joined his first professional team, Madison Genesis. His first season as a senior rider brought with it plenty of learning and some unexpected results too. Winning the National U23 Time Trial Championships on home soil at Celtic Manor in Newport was certainly the highlight as well as placing 10th whilst representing Wales at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Road Race.
In 2015 Scott has joined the British Cycling Olympic Academy Programme on a full-time basis and renowned as one of the finest ‘ finishing schools’ in the World. Joining the Academy means that he’s now based in Manchester; riding both track & road. His season couldn’t have got off to a better start with a Top 10 finish in the overall classification of the Herald Sun Tour in Australia.
